This past weekend I had a chance to visit my local 77kids store in Braintree, MA. If you’re not familiar with 77kids, it’s the newest line of stores from American Eagle Outfitters. 77kids specializes in selling a wide variety of clothing for babies ( 0-18 months), toddlers (12M – 5Y) and kids (5-14). They have retail locations nationwide, but you can also shop online if there isn’t a store near you.
Like their parent company, 77kids clothes are trendy, yet very age-appropriate and I left the store very impressed. As the mom of three boys, I headed right over to the boys clothing (although they had an equally nice section of girls clothing & accessories).
I had the luxury of shopping sans children during my visit, so I was really able to take my time and see what they had to offer. I have to say the boys clothes were right up my kids alley. In addition to many sports themed tops (each of my boys ended up with a Patriots Long Sleeved T-shirt), many of the tops were covered in skulls & crossbones. My guys are big into pirates these days, so I knew anything containing a skull and crossbones would be crazy cool as far as they were concerned.
In addition to the huge variety of clothing (t-shirts, tops, pants and jeans), there were many accessories including backpacks, socks, underwear, hats, toys, boys and quite a nice selection of outerwear. For the girls there were hair accessories, tights and jewelry.
Not only are the clothes & accessories super cool, the 77kids store itself is very kid friendly! There was a photo booth and all of the racks were double bolted for little climbers. There were also fun images projected onto the floor and there is a candy station in which each child can pick out a piece at the end of the shopping trip. I checked out the bathroom, too, and it was huge. I found that to be really refreshing since I have a little one that’s always by my side when I go to the bathroom and sometimes it’s a tight squeeze in public restrooms.
Regular priced merchandise can range from $9.95 to $44.50. I got some great deals without feeling like I totally overpaid for them. I ended up with a whole bag full of loot for my boys after my trip to 77kids this past weekend!
I think by this point, everything has been worn and washed. My four year old got a few things in toddler size 4Y and my seven year old got a few tops and a jacked in size 8. I found that the clothing for both boys was pretty true to size and there was minimal shrinking after washing. Everything I got was really good quality, too, so you know you’re getting more for your money when you shop at 77kids.
